It’s no secret we are a little bit obsessed with opals here at Lapis. Nearly every designer we carry works with these magical stones. Coming in nearly every color of the rainbow, opals are formed over millennia in underground streams as silica deposits carried by running water. This is why opals are often formed “in matrix”, creating opalized fossils, opalized wood and boulder opals.
